Comparative Politics

Abstract

This publication aims to provide a comprehensive scientific introduction to the field of comparative politics by presenting its conceptual, theoretical, and methodological foundations. It seeks to equip students with the knowledge and analytical tools required to compare and evaluate political systems in different national and international contexts. The publication addresses the major themes of the discipline, including the fundamental concepts of comparative politics, forms of government, decision-making and legislative processes, the political environment, the evolution of comparative political studies, the principal theoretical and methodological approaches, as well as political parties, electoral systems, party systems, political elites, governance, democratic transition, and the factors influencing the stability of political systems. The publication adopts a descriptive, analytical, and comparative approach supported by examples and case studies drawn from diverse political contexts. It highlights the significance of comparative politics as a scientific tool for understanding political institutions and processes, explaining differences among political systems, and analyzing the influence of historical, social, economic, and cultural factors on their development. The publication concludes that the comparative approach provides an essential framework for achieving a deeper understanding of political phenomena, strengthening students' analytical and critical skills in the study of political systems, and benefiting from international experiences in interpreting contemporary political transformations.
