Comparative Analysis of Public Policies

Abstract

The course “Comparative Public Policy Analysis” is part of the core curriculum in political science programs. It is a six-week course primarily intended for first-year master’s students majoring in comparative politics. This course aims to equip students with the theoretical and methodological tools related to comparative public policy analysis. In this publication, we seek to focus on the fundamental principles and basics of comparative public policy analysis, introduce the process of comparative public policy analysis, practice comparative work, and address the methods and techniques of comparative public policy analysis and the strategy of comparative writing on public policies across countries, which assist students and researchers in the field of political science in general, and first-year master’s students majoring in comparative politics in particular. This course requires students to have prior knowledge, primarily related to the concepts of analysis, comparison, comparative analysis, public policy, public policy analysis, and methods of comparison.The publication addresses several themes: the first theme introduces the concept of analysis; the second theme explores comparison; In the third section, we explore comparative analysis, followed by a discussion of public policy in the fourth section. We then address the analysis of public policy in the fifth section, highlighting the methodological challenges and current theoretical shortcomings of comparative analysis in public policy.
